As any young content creator is told, it’s up to the audience to heap praise on whatever you decide to showcase to the world. It portrays class and humility, helping forge a stronger bond with an appreciative audience who want to keep coming back for more. 

ALT: there’s nothing worse than self-aggrandising, entitled, power-hungry half-wit who declares that everything they do is the bee’s knees. 

So, with that in mind, here’s what the guys (and they are bloody guys) have written about themselves in the show notes:

The Football Ramble is a global podcasting institution. In 2024, the takes are as strong as ever, the jokes are as funny as ever and the Ramble remains as essential as it ever was for football fans everywhere.

Oh, do fuck off. 

Yes, the show has been going for, like, forever, and yes, it’s built up quite a following. But please don’t tell me that your show is “essential”; I’ll be the one to decide that, thanks-very-much. 

Anyway, rant over: this episode is a big fat slice of meh. It provides some insight but it’s largely talkSPORT on RSS and a room of opinionated white folks talking over each other in a conversation punctuated by so many in-jokes, they may as well be speaking a foreign language. 

Think Johnny Vaughan, but more so. 

Full transparency, I found it difficult to listen past the first five minutes because they had my back up from the beginning. Sure, I might be missing a trick here; they may be the greatest pundits and #banter merchants of all time; and I may have left behind “my people”, a wonderful tight-knit community with hearts of gold. 

However, I doubt it. Instead, what I hear (from a comfortable distance) are a group of blokes who are ironically taking their eye off the ball.
