Howzat? 4.7 / 6 (Tuesday Teaser)
We don’t usually write about true crime but, fucking hell, the Aussie’s do crime well.
For some reason, the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) are one of only a few organisations that have nailed the “Serial-esque” true-crime narration thing since it “became a thing”, so this should be a real treat [see: Teacher’s Pet, Trace, Who The Hell Is Hamish? etc etc etc).
And listening to this first episode, you won’t be disappointed.
It sets it up with the usual intrigue (‘a deceptive bad guy who could steal millions of dollars’) and has the pay off (‘I’m Alex Turner-Cohen and I’m setting out to find the money’, that kinda thing).
Pour that honey into my ears.
From The Missing 49 Million:
The story of one Aussie man, the secret code he claimed to find buried in the Bible and 49 million dollars of investors’ money that’s gone missing.
Gold Coast businessman Alan Metcalfe said his tech company had found the secret to artificial intelligence. He convinced hundreds of people to part with their life savings but when Alan died, no one knew what had happened to their money.
Join Alex Turner-Cohen as she tries to find the missing millions, uncovering the wild story behind the company Alan promised would one day be “bigger than Google”.
