The past, it was nuts, wasn’t it?

Well… if this episode of the jovial ‘Oh What A Time’ is anything to go by, then yes. It was more off its rocker than Gwyneth Paltrow on fortified cider.

Chris, Ellis, and Tom chat about feasts of yesteryear, and in particular, the outrageous meals that the youngster Roman Emperor Elagabalus used to throw.

Without spoiling anything, he was a bit of a wrong un and, some might say, a classic teenager, fuelled more by raging hormones than a commitment to the peoples of his empire.

Still, he died doing what he loved doing best: killing people with flowers and committing childish pranks, whilst eating more than a donkey and having sex with everything that moved.

Oh What A Time is back on form with this one. Sure, they remain a little too shocked with everything each other says (come on guys, we know you talk beforehand!) but nevertheless, this is entertainment and education (edutainment?) at its best.

Keep an ear out for part 2 if you’re a Game of Thrones fan, plus there’s a dig at the French King, Louis XIV, which is a lovely bit of business in this, an Olympic year.
